It's all fun and games until someone gets hurt

The boys had a great time wrestling together at Craig and Ruthann's over New Years. Jason is on the bottom of the pile. Charlie is in there too somewhere.

Christmas Day 2007

Can you believe at one time I stuffed Miles in this stocking? Boy has he grown!

Color Wonder makers and paints are awesome. I wish I was the genius that came up with that idea. No more worrying about Miles getting ink or paint on the furniture or carpet.

Sweet! An add-on to his beloved train set. Jason enjoys it as well. You can you see it for yourself here. (He might just kill me for downloading this, but it was way too funny not to share.)

We had a wonderful Christmas. We didn't have anywhere to go, so we took our time opening gifts and stayed in our pjs most of the day. We began opening gifts at 8am and didn't finish until noon. Miles played with every present after he opened it before moving on to the next gift. He got lots of coloring supplies from Santa, along with some more matchbox cars. Mimi and Papaw, look closely at the Aquadoodle mat you got him in the last picture. There's a note for you on it. We hope you all had a great Christmas as well.

Miles Visit with Santa

We took a trip to see Santa. This Santa wasn't the mall Santa with all the elves and cool scenery. This Santa was the kind that "lived" in a little one room house in the town of Plymouth. He was amazing! He was so patient with the kids in his soothing voice. He spent at least 5 minutes with each kid. (Maybe that's not so great if you're in a long line, but it was great for us because we weren't!) Miles, of course, didn't want anything to do with him until Santa began a long conversation with his puppy. Once Santa saw that Miles was relaxing a bit, he began asking him questions. Miles did say that he wanted toys for Christmas. (Okay, maybe I coached him in the car a bit before we went, but I felt that he needed to say something appropriate for his first meeting with the big guy.) Miles still wasn't wanting to go all out and sit on his lap, but he did talk to him; he even smiled a little.

(Hey mom, notice the rocking chair. It was just like the one you use to have when I was a baby.)

Christmas Time

I thought I would have a hard time keeping Miles away from the Christmas decorations and especially presents, but he has been so good. Only once did he whine about opening presents. He's going to be a lot of fun this Christmas. This will be (keep my fingers crossed) the first Christmas where he isn't crying the entire day. His first Christmas was a nightmare battling colic. Last Christmas, he had a terrible cold. Finally, we should see a smiling Miles opening gifts on his own. We are looking forward to it!

Miles has become quite particular about music these days. In the car, I now hear, "Mommy! different music." And if I don't react fast enough he says it again only much louder. It feels really strange being yelled at by a two year old. Luckily, his taste in music isn't that far off from mine. His favorite Christmas song is Jingle Bells but he is even particular about the way I sing it. It has to be just so or I hear, "No, Mommy!" I think I'm being paid back by the flying spaghetti monster for all the trouble I put my parents through.

I've been working so much that we haven't had a chance to take Miles to see Santa yet. Hopefully, this weekend we'll get to see his reaction to the thought of sitting on some fat old man's lap with poor taste in clothes that has a white beard that is long overdue for a trim. I doubt he'll want anything to do with him.
