Happy Halloween

Miles was a monkey for Halloween. He liked wearing his costume. Now whenever I want him to put on a coat, he asks to wear his "monkey coat".

This is angry monkey. He was ready to go trick or treating!

Miles really got into trick or treating. He would go up to the door and say "Hi!". He was also very generous with the byes. Occasionally, he would say happy halloween and thank you. But, almost every driveway we walked down, he would say "tricker tricker treat" to us. To him that meant "Give me some candy!"

This picture is of Miles finally getting to eat his "tricker tricker treat".

By the way, every year Jason and I have a pumpkin contest in which Jason is the judge. (Yeah, it's totally unfair.) And of course, every year he wins. Well, not this year. I was victorious! I didn't win with Miles' adorable pumpkin that featured a cat carved into it. (Which in my opinion, I should have.) But I trumped him with my green gourd with its face made out of other gourd parts. "Very creative," said the judge. Whoohoo! Finally, I win the pumpkin contest!

The Pumpkin Patch

We took a hayride to the pumpkin patch. He wasn't all that impressed with the hundreds of pumpkins, but he certainly thought the tractors were cool.
He may not of have been that impressed with the pumpkins, but the gourds were a different matter. He really liked the bucket of gourds. In fact, he threw one at a little girl for encroaching upon his gourds.

Miles Turns 2!

Miles had a monkey themed birthday. Since moving to Michigan I have become Green. I decided to reuse things I had from last year instead of buying new. So, I transformed party hats, blow horns, gift bags, and even cups into monkeys. (Yeah, I know what some of you are thinking. I have too much time on my hands.) And with Jason's zeal for monkeys, we had several to add to the festivities. And of course, Jason's infamous monkey call entertained the kids.

Here's a close up of the banana flavored monkey cake.

Rachael, David, Jalie, Steven, Mimi, Papaw, Jamie, and Corey all came to celebrate Miles' birthday. Here we are singing the Happy Birthday song. You can't tell by the picture, but he was, of course, dancing to the song.

He likes the cake!

GP & GM's Visit

GM & GP came to visit us the weekend before Miles' birthday. We had a great visit. We went downtown Detroit where Miles and Craig played in the water in front of the GM buildings. Miles was soaking wet! Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures to show you. We also went to the Motown Museum. It was pretty cool. Jason even gave a fantastic performance in the very room where Stevie Wonder recorded his hits.

GM and GP spoiled him with gifts, his favorite being a train set. He absolutely loves it!
Luckily, the engineer and the retired executive put it together in record speeds for the impatient 2 year old.
He played with it non-stop for two weeks.
