Trick or Treat

Miles was a ceratosaurus while Gavin was a stegosaurus this year for Halloween.

It was hard getting a picture of the two of them together. Gavin kept walking away. Miles is roaring in the picture while Gavin is trying to get into Jason's car.

Here's Miles with our neighbor, Payton. Miles did great this year. We were very proud of him for helping his brother and not freaking out when costumes and decorations frightened him. This was the first year where the night did not end in tears.

Jason spent most of the night carrying Gavin while he ate candy. He started to get the hang of it though. He'd get down and mutter something (we assume it was trick or treat) and then wave bye after getting his candy. He was pretty cute. I was glad that I wasn't the one holding him though. Chocolate and suckers = a sticky mess!

Pumpkin Carving

Miles was his usual self. That is, he did NOT want to touch the inside "guts" of the pumpkin.

Gavin, on the other hand, had no problem digging around in there.

This year Miles wanted his pumpkin transformed into Nitroade (one of the race cars from the Cars movie). Here you see Jason designing it. Jason takes this very seriously you know. He's always trying to compete with me for the best pumpkin. Whatever...

Okay, so his pumpkin was quite impressive. The picture doesn't do it justice. It really was good. The face really did resemble him, and then he put a wing on the back with his number on the sides. He definitely beat me this year. Mine ended up being pretty lame. I had a busy day that day with very little time. That's my excuse.

Pumpkin Picking

While Jamie, Jalie, Steven, and my dad were visiting, we made our annual trip to Three Cedars Farm for pumpkins. It was a terrific day. My dad and Steven missed out on all this fun. Instead, they chose to go golfing.

Falling Leaves

Do you see Gavin? That's because Miles is trying to bury him in leaves. Luckily, Gavin didn't seem to care.

There he is!

Miles is 5!

On Miles' birthday, we took him to Red Robbin and had him open presents from us and GM and GP. He was thrilled to have gotten Legos. We got him a fire station set, and I must say it's pretty awesome. I had fun putting it together. Now we just have to keep it out of Gavin's reach.

Miles LOVES to open presents!

Miles' 5th Birthday

Miles wanted a dinosaur themed birthday party this year. (Yay for it not being Lightning McQueen again!) We invited several families over to celebrate his 5th birthday. There were 12 kids in all. It ended up being a beautiful day outside, so we were able to have the party outside.

Here's the cake I made. The dino is hiding behind some leaves in case you can't tell in the picture. Scary eh?

Here's Miles right before he blew out the candles. You can see Gavin's head behind him.

Some feel (Jason) as if I went overboard on the party this year, but I enjoyed planning it. Here's the volcano that Miles and I made. The kids are gathered around to watch it erupt. Awwwe-some!

So it's hard to find large Easter eggs in October, so I HAD to paper mache' some eggs. I stuffed the eggs with treats (stickers, dinosaur figures, gummies, etc) and hid them around the yard for a dinosaur egg hunt. We also dug for dinosaurs in the sand box. It was great fun.
