The Weida Tongue

Yeah, this picture is out of the format you're used to, but I thought that since this blog is about Miles, if anything belongs up here, this does.Warning: Graphic Content - Reader Discretion Advised
A scourge has been released upon the earth. Over the last few days, I have been mildly concerned that my son has not, ahem, taken a poo. We had returned from cousin Charlies 1st birthday party and I was spending the Saturday afternoon tweaking my home entertainment system. Miles was in the room with me in his jump-a-roo laughing and jumping. Quite a lovely day, actually. I noticed a lull in the action over my shoulder, so I took a look, and I could see a look of stern concentration on the lads face. "Good" I thought. "He's finally letting it go, I guess everything is OK." I continued about my work to give him some privacy.
...
30 seconds later I had forgotten all about it and was eagerly testing out some new techniques to turn my AV equipment on and off. Exciting stuff. Press on, it all comes on. Press off, it all goes off. Like magic. Suddenly I remembered... I sniffed his rear just to make sure it wasn't all thunder no lightning. That was a mistake. Wow, I better get this kid changed. I took him back to his room and put him on the changing table, in the back of my mind thinking, it's been like three days... This is probably not going to be pretty. I was wrong.
What awaited me was the most unholy, enormous, uncontained, slippery brown mess of smelliness that mankind has ever laid eyes, ears, and unfortuntaely for me, hands upon. When I opened the diaper, all that was good in the world died a simultaneous death. HAZ-MAT teams would have given up on this one and just sealed it in concrete. Superman would have gone back in time to start a fight with himself just so he wouldn't have to see it. Chuck Norris would have cried.
Miles stuck his socked feet in the air and grabbed them, looked and me and giggled. That's all it takes to undo all of that sheer despair, one smile and a giggle. So I dug in and did my dirty work, and when I was done, Julie came in, oblivious to the carnage which was present only moments before, and with a smile said "How are you guys doing?"

First Time Swimming

We took Miles swimming for Steven's birthday party. He really seemed to enjoy it. We were in the water for at least an hour before he started getting fussy. He made some funny faces when water splashed his face. Jason and I wanted to see how he would do if we dunked him underwater, but neither one of us wanted to be the person to do it. Maybe next time...

5th Month Birthday
Miles is now 5 months old. He is beginning to sit up (with assistance), and is very close to rolling over. He likes to stand and jump in his Jumperoo. He's also very talkative at times. He's a lot of fun. He weighs 15 lbs 4 oz and is 25 inches long.

Going for a Walk
We took advantage of the warm weather and went for a walk. He seems to like being outside in his stroller.

One Big Happy Family
Miles has now noticed the dogs. He will grab for them if they get too close. They all seem to get along just fine.
Messy Eater
Miles is getting better at eating his cereal. Believe it or not, we get more in him than what he wears. We've now mixed in carrots and sweet potatoes. He seems to like the sweet potatoes better.
